SPECIAL EVENTS
June 4

Cast & Relax Women’s Fly-Fishing Clinic
What: Learn how to fly-fish on the resort’s private pond at this first annual clinic, which includes a wine and cheese tasting, a fly-tying demonstration and lounge time by the pool and at the sauna. Want to stay the night? Participants get exclusive rates starting at $229 per night at Devil’s Thumb Ranch and $109 per night at Trailhead Inn and Vasquez Creek.

Alpenglow Zip Tours
What: Get an aerial view of Devil’s Thumb by moonlight with this zip line adventure. The five zip lines on the course increase in height, distance and speed, ending with a 1,600-foot line that reaches speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. Transportation from the Devil’s Thumb Ranch and post-zip beverages are included. Don’t forget a headlamp!
Time: 8-11 p.m.

July 4
Independence Day BBQ
What: The ranch is celebrating the Fourth of July with all-you-can-eat burgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken, grilled corn, “summer greens,” potato and fresh fruit salads, house-made corn bread, dessert, happy hour drinks—almost there—and live music, guided hikes, fly-casting, archery and a petting zoo. Phew! Talk about a celebration.
Time: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Cost:  $29 per adult (12 and older); $14.50 for kids younger than 12

July 9
Women, Wheels & Wine (WWW)
What: All levels of mountain bikers who want to learn and/or grow their skills—and have some fun—are welcome at this event. The day includes professional instruction, tips on bike fitness, training and maintenance, a catered lunch at Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa, a yoga for athletes class, use of the steam room, sauna, pool and hot tub, “a good dose of female camaraderie” and a raffle for bike gear that ends with a wine and cheese reception. Want to stay the night? Exclusive participant rates start at $229 per night at Devil’s Thumb Ranch and $109 per night at Trailhead Inn and Vasquez Creek. Demo bikes may be available; ask when you make your reservation.

Cost: $15 per GPS rental, $10 trail pass for day visitors
What: Explore the ranch and try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using your GPS device.

Fly-fishing lessons
One-hour lesson: $99 for one person, $169 for two people, $229 for three people
Two-hour lesson: $149 for one person, $229 for two people, $299 for three people
Includes: Lessons on everything from the basics of equipment and casting to advanced entomology, any equipment rentals, flies, a leader and two hours of on-site pond fishing after the lesson. Reservations required.

Private water fishing at Ranch Creek
Cost: $75 to fish on private section No. 1
Includes: Three sections of Ranch Creek, which includes all types of water from pockets to undercut banks and riffles to deep runs; Brown, Brook, Rainbow and an occasional Cutthroat trout. Reservations required.

Cowpoke Camp
Two-hour camp: 9-11 a.m. or 2-4 p.m.; $40 per child; includes a snack
Half-day camp: 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or noon to 4 p.m.; $70 per child; includes lunch
What: Kids, ages 5 to 12, can have their own fun while Mom and Dad explore, fish or relax at the spa. Activities vary by day. Reservations 48 hours in advance are required. Space is limited.

Horseback riding
Cost: From $35 per person to $250 per person
