Pirates aren’t the only ones who love a good treasure hunt. If the idea of finding something valuable gives you a thrill, visit Golden this September for a 30-day treasure hunt.

Here’s the deal: Each day, a “Golden Glass Orb” crafted by local artisans will be placed somewhere in the town to be found. “…These treasures won’t be buried, they’ll be in plain sight, and will be a wonderful keepsake for those people lucky enough to find them,” says Hannah Button, Visit Golden’s community marketing manager.

Fort Collins artist Dottie Boscamp and Golden artists Marcie Miller and Angelo Ambrosia provided the orbs, each created using centuries-old glass blowing techniques.

The daily hunts will kick off at 9 a.m. when the orbs are hidden in public spaces, meaning you may even stumble across one without searching much at all, so keep your eyes open. If the orb has not been found by 1 p.m. on any day of the month, a clue regarding its location will be posted inside the front door of the Foothills Art Center in downtown Golden. Find one? Register it at the Foothills Art Center to enter a drawing to win a $200 gift card to be used in varying favorite Golden spots. Happy hunting!
