Foothills Animal Shelter is dedicated to providing the best care possible for every animal that enters its doors through four key principles: Community, Adopt, Reunite and Educate (C.A.R.E.). As an open admission shelter, FAS doesn’t turn away animals or pick and choose who comes through the doors. In addition to adoption services, the Shelter also offers pet licensing for Jefferson County, affordable vaccinations, microchip administration, and spaying and neutering.

FAS boasts a 92% save rate, an incredible feat compared to the national average of 50%. Out of 9,000+ animals cared for at the shelter each year, 92% are adopted, reunited with their owners, or transferred to rescue partners. Foothills Animal Shelter’s Foster Care Program, which includes 170 volunteers who open their hearts and homes to help hundreds of medically-fragile pets who need extra TLC, saved 924 animals in 2014.

The Foothills Animal Shelter facility is filled with a team of compassionate staff and nearly 500 dedicated volunteers who truly want to do what’s best for each and every animal in the most humane manner possible.
