Put good times under the tree

Been looking for a gift that’s not a standby product like neck ties or candles? Down to the wire because you couldn’t find anything? Our suggestion: rather than giving your loved one something they might like, give them an experience they’ll love and never forget with these four local spots that can be wrapped and under the tree today.

Alamo Drafthouse
What it is: Gift card for dinner and a movie
What they’ll get: They’re choice of a feature film and dinner and drinks while they’re watching with the drafthouse’s multi-course menu. Favorites dishes include the “Royal With Cheese” burger, Omnivore pizza and fresh-from-the oven chocolate chip cookies. With movie tickets at $11.25, entrees around $12 and drinks at $8, a $65 gift card will be enough for two to enjoy one of each.
Why they’ll love it: This is the perfect gift for serious movie aficionados. The drafthouse sticks to a strict no talking, no texting policy. Disruptive guests are “ejected from the theater.” Your loved one can also look forward to comfy seats. Check out the theater’s upcoming showings, which include a few Christmas classics.

Boulder Coffee and Chocolate Tasting Tour
What it is: A tasting reservation for two
What they’ll get: The opportunity to learn about the different beans, roasts and brewing methods used to create local cups of Joe. The $30 per person tour concludes at a Boulder independently-owned chocolate boutique. They can expect to taste coffee, pastries and chocolate.
Why they’ll love it: Tour guides takes guests off the beaten track to try unique coffee and chocolate flavors with a personalized experience; each tour has a maximum of just 10 people.

Denver Microbrew Tour
What it is: Gift card for a tour of Denver’s most famed microbreweries
What they’ll get: A trip to four popular microbrewers in LoDo or RiNo, 10 plus beer samples and the scandalous details of Denver’s brew history. We suggest a gift card of $70, with tickets at $35 per person.
Why they’ll love it: Microbrew tours? Lots of sampling in the “Napa Valley of Beer”? What’s not to love?

Glider Rides
What it is: Gift certificate for two glider rides
What they’ll get: Prime time in the sky in a free-flying, two-seat glider. Mile High Gliding Inc. offers different levels of glider rides, all with a pilot, ranging from 10 to 60 minutes with tows as high as 5,280 feet above the airport. Gift certificates range from $119 to $259 for two passengers.
Why they’ll love it: The adventure seeker in your life will get the chance to silently soar over snow-capped ridges, downtown Boulder and the Continental Divide and really see it all with the glider’s big windows. What a view!
