True, it’s been a busy summer of festivals, but listen up, wine lovers: There are two more events to attend before the season comes to an end.
The Denver Food + Wine Festival celebrates its 13th anniversary this year, Sept. 5-10, and, for the first time, a group of Denver chefs (including Tom Coohill of Coohills Restaurant, Spencer White and Alex Figura of Dio Mio and Jenna Johansen of Epicurean Culinary Group) are acting as consultants for the festival’s development.
“We’re eager to shed some light on the fresh faces in Denver’s thriving culinary scene,” says Figura, chef and co-owner of Dio Mio.
Highlights include the Grand Tasting on Sept.9 at the Pepsi Center, featuring more than 700 wines and spirits and 40-plus local restaurants; The Shakedown on Sept. 7 at the McNichols Civic Center Building where area bartenders compete for Denver’s “best cocktail” and chefs vie for “best bite”; and Rise and Dine at Stanley Marketplace on Sept. 10 for a yummy brunch.
Tickets for the Denver Food + Wine Festival are between $40 and $250. Buy them here.
The Steamboat Wine Festival, celebrating its 14th year, takes place Aug. 9-13, and features events for every level of wine and food enthusiast. Golfers can check out Wine on the Nine, an event combining golf and wine, or, if yoga is more your speed, check out Warrior & the Wine and enjoy lunch and wine following an all-level yoga class.
