Play Time!

Does your feline need a cat-titude adjustment? Try a new toy.

If your cat’s grumpy or bored, if the catnip has lost its charm, we’ve got the answer. We brought these toys to Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden to get the kitties—including Ozark, here—to play. The reaction? Wariness. Curiosity. Intrigue. The shelter acts as a lost and found for animals in Jefferson County and receives dogs, cats and other creatures (guinea pigs, snakes, birds …) from organizations such as the ASPCA to adopt out. “We never turn an animal away,” says Liz Maddy, marketing and community engagement manager. But be quick: Maddy says most dogs get adopted in three to five days, and cats in 10 to 12 days.
