Shawn Miller, Publisher and CEO
Born and raised in Huntington Beach, Calif., I moved in 1989 to Arizona, where I received a degree in global marketing with a minor in advertising at Arizona State University. I worked nine years for a regional magazine publisher in Arizona, learning about the magazine industry from top to bottom. In 2007, I and my wife/business partner, Kristin, along with our first child and three pups, relocated to Colorado to launch Denver Life Magazine. We now have three wonderful children and love this amazing state. I enjoy skiing, golfing, camping, hiking, fly-fishing, and spending time with my family.
Alison Gwinn, Executive Editor
As a native of Kansas City, I felt the lure (and allure) of Colorado from my youngest days. After living in Chicago, San Francisco, and New York—working in newspapers (The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times), magazines (from Entertainment Weekly to O, the Oprah magazine), and books—I finally arrived in Colorado for good in late 2013, and it’s been an even greater place to live than I expected. Working at Denver Life over the last three years has given me the chance to really get to know the many fascinating people and places of the city. I feel so lucky.
Tom Visocchi, Creative Director
I grew up in Detroit, studied at the Center for Creative Studies, and worked at an ad agency before moving to Denver 25 years ago. Since then, I have done an array of creative work (plus bartending!), working at an ad agency, designing mail-order catalogs for a subsidiary of Whole Foods, and photo editing for Starz. In publishing, I have worked at Colorado Biz magazine and Denver magazine, and freelanced for Ft. Collins, Breckenridge, and Winter Park magazines for Evergreen Publishing. For the last five years, I’ve designed Denver Life Magazine.
Michelle M. Gutierrez, Art Director
Growing up in Santa Fe, I spent many afternoons daydreaming about my future. At 18, I enlisted in the Army and was able to travel the world. After four years of serving my country and gaining a sense of direction, I began my creative journey in the Pacific Northwest. Now, with over 15 years of design experience, I have an innate sense of layout, and believe my travels have given me a perspective on the world that I bring to my work as a designer and art director. With a passion for the arts, I immerse myself in it all—whether fine-tuning my cooking skills, mixology, visual arts, dancing, or attending as many music events as possible.
Lori Perry, Senior Account Executive
I joined the Denver Life Magazine family in 2016. A Minnesota native, I fell in love with Colorado’s mountains in 1978 and always knew this was where my heart belonged. I moved to Colorado in 2012. I have two degrees—in accounting and in sales & marketing—and have owned two successful businesses. My husband, Tim, and I have four amazing sons and daughters-in-law and three grandchildren. We own a horse ranch in Franktown, where we have six horses, four dogs, and one donkey. I love professional barrel racing.
Andrew Weaver, Associate Editor
I grew up in Cleveland, but the Rockies have been part of my life since I was six months old, when my parents took me camping in Wyoming's Grand Tetons for the first time. Since then, I have been back to the Tetons every summer, explored just about every national park west of the Mississippi, and lived for a year in Missoula, Montana. I did my undergrad at Middlebury College in Vermont, where I studied English Literature, Writing, and Environmental Studies. I lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for three years before moving to Colorado in 2016. Working at Denver Life Magazine has been such an amazing way to explore the state and all it has to offer, and I feel very lucky to be part of the team!
Susan Fornoff, Associate Editor
I moved to Denver for love in 2016 after 25 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, and have felt right at home—from the vibrant arts and dining scenes, to the rabid sports culture, to the burgeoning real estate market. Even Denver's traffic rivals that of Northern California! Born in Baltimore and educated at the University of Maryland's journalism school, I worked as a writer and/or editor at USA Today (sports), Sacramento Bee (sports), and San Francisco Examiner and Chronicle (sports, real estate, home/garden, travel) before venturing out on my own as a freelancer and founder of GottaGoGolf.com. I'm thrilled to be back in print and serving readers again at Denver Life Magazine!
Jamie Froyd, Business Development Manager / Events
In my role at Denver Life, I collaborate with various clients and nonprofits to create partnerships that provide new branding opportunities and event marketing. The team’s only Colorado native, I’m a Cherry Creek and CU Boulder alum, so you’ll find me enjoying all things outdoorsy around the state in my spare time.
